Mandalay – Pyin Oo Lwin (maymyo) – Hsipaw – Mandalay

DAY 01 (MANDALAY – PYIN OO LWIN)

pyinoolwinAfter breakfast drive to PYIN OO LWIN  a former Brithish hill station, 67 km east of Mandalay. On the way see the Mahabodhi Hindu Temple and the local flower market. Upon arrival in Maymyo transfer to Royal Park View Hotel.

Proposal for sightseeing:

Visit the Pwe Kauk Falls, about 8 km from town, a very pleasant picnic spot; have a stroll at the Botanical Garden and take original stagecoaches, dating back to the colonial days and still being used as local taxis to the downtown area.  Overnight at Royal Park View Hotel.

DAY 02 (PYIN OO LWIN– HSIPAW)

Gokteik_Viaduct2After breakfast transfer to PYIN OO LWIN railway station for the train to Hsipaw, by 131UP (Etd: 08:34 / Eta: 14:41). On the way you will cross the Gokteik railway viaduct, built by the Pennsylvania Steel Co over 100 years ago. Upon arrival in Hsipaw transfer to Nam Khey Mao Guest House for check-in and overnight.

DAY 03 (HSIPAW)

Proposal for sightseeing:

tokehtawaddyAfter breakfast visit the very interesting market with Shan and other tribal people from nearby villages and the old Shan palace, originally built by the then crown prince, Saw Onhkya, who had just returned from his studies at Oxford. In the afternoon hiking to nearby Shan villages or to the Namtauk water falls. Overnight at Nam Khey Mao Guest House.

DAY 04 (HSIPAW – MANDALAY)

Mandalay_Fort_WallAfter breakfast drive to the Peik Chin Myaung cave a 45 minutes drive away from PYIN OO LWIN. The stalactite & stalagmites formed naturally cave has many springs with clear water running under the walk way and also a lot of Buddha images. In the afternoon drive to Mandalay, the city of the last Myanmar Kings. Upon arrival transfer to ET Hotel for check-in and overnight.
